Following graduation from Sabreeze I was offered a partial swimming scholarship to Tulane and University of Georgia. The offers weren't enough to make up the difference between out of state tuition so I turned them down and walked on the swim team at Florida State where they ended up awarding me a swimming scholarship my first semster. I swam at FSU for two years then decided I was not the next Mark Spitz so I gave up my scholarship my junior year in order to concentrate on my studies (and parties). I graduated from FSU in 1976 with a BS degree in Political Science. In 1977 I returned to FSU and earned my MS degree in Political Science while working part time for the Florida Attorney General's Office. I then worked for two years in Tampa as a Legislative Aide to a State Representative from Tampa. In 1980 I attended law school at Stetson College of Law where I obtained my JD degree in law in 1982.
