Hayley's Story
Life-
It's hard to think back to my highschool days, so much has happened since then. I went to CSULB immediately following highschool and earned a bachelors degree in Psychology, in 1988. I met my husband, Rob Ling, just before graduation. He also went to Uni-High. Fun fact; we share the same birthday, but we are four years apart. We were married in 1992, traveled a lot, and finally decided to have kids in 2000. We have a son and a daughter, now both grown adults. Life is great!
I taught preschool and kindergarten for many years and was a stay at home Mom for a while as well. I now nanny part time and love it! From 1990 to 2020 my husband owned and operated a successful carpet cleaning business out of Orange County called "Colorburst Carpet and Tile Care", which our son has now taken over.
We moved to Arizona in 2020, bought a two acre property in Prescott Valley, and love our new life more than we could have imagined. We love our large group of friends here (mostly transplants from California, like us). We also enjoy entertaining guests from out of town and riding our side by side on the state land right next to our property. Life is GRAND in the Grand Canyon state!
School-
From 4th grade to 8th grade I attended Vista Verde year round school. Although I didn't like it at the time, I now think year round school is a great idea. Idle minds tend to get in trouble. Having short breaks throughout the year kept me from getting burned out at school and also kept me from getting...Expand for more
bored at home. I was shy and had trouble making friends, but I did manage to make a few great friends who are still my besties to this day!
High School was a bit difficult for me as well. I had low self-esteem, I was still shy, and grades didn't come easily to me. I studied my butt off for an overall "B" average. I had fun at the beach, the mall, and at parties, but it wasn't until college that I really found myself.
College-
I loved each of my four years at CSULB. I roomed in an off- campus dorm the 1st year, an on-campus dorm the 2nd year, had my own apartment the 3rd year, and shared a house with friends my last year at college. I also traveled to Europe and Cairo for two months (backpacking and country hopping) one summer. I toured the great pyramids of Egypt and saw the Sphinx. I witnessed the running of the bulls in Pamplona. I went to the Eiffel Tower and the Arc de Triomphe in Paris. I even went through Check Point Charlie and spent an abysmal couple of hours in East Berlin the year before the wall came down! I gained so much self-esteem, independence, and appreciation for different cultures during my college years. I wasn't getting grades to please my Mother any more, I was doing it for ME! I met my husband, Rob, right before I graduated and the rest, as they say, is history!
Workplace-
I taught preschool and kindergarten for 13 years before I had children. Then, I was a stay at home Mom for a while before going back to teaching. Now, I nanny part time and love it tremendously!
