Karen's Story

Life Hi, I live in Santa Fe, New Mexico. I work as an ICU nurse in the hospital here. I do like my job but it can be stressful and tiring, but I meet alot of really neat people. I have a 19 year old son named Ted, he loves cars and ROTC. I have been married for 20 years to my husband Ted. In my nursing experience, I got to go to El Salvador and Guatemala to do two medical missions. These were very meaningful and eye opening experiences. I hope some day I can go again. I have gone back to college and took accounting classes. I have been studying to take my CPA exam sometime. Like I said nursing can be physically tiring and I don't know if I can keep the pace for another twenty years. My favorite hobbies are crocheting and scrapbooking. I love to take photos of my family. I am an avid mystery reader, and I love mystery movies the most...Expand for more
. Another hobby is genealogy. I have traced the roots on both sides of my parents families and on my husbands. I love to go to the archives at the library and pour through old records, especially the ones in Spanish in New Mexico because it is a challenge. After high school, I went to the University of Colorado in Boulder and got a biology degree, then I went to the CU Nursing School and got my nursing degree. I worked in Colorado for the Migrant Health Program in Alamosa, then I moved to Tucumcari(where?) in Eastern New Mexico. I worked there a year and then moved to Santa Fe, where I got married. We moved to Denver for six years and I worked at St Anthonys and Mercy Hospitals. When Mercy closed we moved back to Santa Fe and have been here ever since. Well, I guess that's all for now, high school seems like a million years ago. Karen
