Heath's Story
Life
Ok, it's about time I sat down and did this.
Life - Life for me has been good. I'm a senior NCO in the Army, been in for 9+ yrs now. I currently live in Norfolk, VA. I used to own a historical house on the water that was built in 1890 but I had to sell it due to me not being there cause of deployments. I'm currently deployed and plan on buying again when I get back. My two prides in life now are my truck and ski boat... typical guy thing huh.
I spend pretty much most of my time on or around the water. If it's not on the boat skiing or cruising I'm on the peir with friends of walking the beach.
Like I've always done, I hold friendship and my family close to my heart.
I've had a couple long term relationships but at the end I'm single and no kids. One day I'll find that someone and I wouldn't mind having a kid or two.
Military
Well, I was pretty good in school but man did I hate it. I ended up joining the Army a few weeks before graduation and went off to basic training one week after graduating in '98. I didn't think that I would like it but look at me know. It's the end of 2007 and I'm still in and loving it. My first duty station was Panam...Expand for more
a. Seeing that I was only 18 yrs old when I got there I was loving it. No drinking age, away from the parents and starting my new life. I did manage to come back to the states single unlike most guys there. From there I went to Ft Eustis, VA where I am still located. I'm a watercraft operator for the Army but as I move up in rank I find myself doing a little bit of everything. I first deployed to the desert right after 9-11 and I feel like I've been here ever since. I haven't but it feels like it. It's now Sept 08 and I'm currently in the desert doing what I have to for this war. I've been here for 5 months already and still 11 months to go. I guess you can say that I'm working on my tan. Yeah, not really. I currently manage and control over 70% of the convoys moving in Iraq and Kuwait. I swear I'll be bald by the time this deployment is over with.
I can't complain about the Army life. It has been good to me. It's what I know and it's what I'm good at. Might not be the best paying job but I definately have everything I need in life and most of what I want.
So far the military has taken me to 31 different countries and I have friends all around the world.
