Life My husband, John, and I just moved from Missouri to Houston a couple months ago. We finally left the comforting world of academia for the brutality of real life. Actually, we love finally having real jobs instead of being professional students. John is a consulting chemical engineer at Berwanger and I am a research assistant at Baylor College of Medicine. The project I am working on involves the molecular and genetic pathogenesis of Parkinson's Disease and our lab just received a grant from the Michael J. Fox Foundation. I finally found a great use for those degrees in Biology! John and I have been married for eleven years, but no children yet. We do have a cat named Piebald. Does that count? Spring 2004: We've survived 3 years in Houston! This place is actually starting to grow on us. I am now working at UT-Houston Medical School researching corneal dystrophies. I've been toying with the idea of going back to school to get a Ph.D., but for now I like what I am doing. John is still at Berwanger, loving every minute of it. We still don't have any kids, but we did have a new addition to the family 2 years ago. His name is Stache (because his fur above his lip looks like half of a milk mustache!) and he is the sweetest cat ever.
