One of Heather's favorite quotes is:""I believe that today more than ever a book should be sought after even if it has only one great page in it: we must search for fragments, splinters, toenails, anything that has ore in it, anything that is capable of resuscitating the body and soul. It may be that we are doomed, that there is no hope for us, any of us, but if that is so then let us set up a last agonizing, bloodcurdling howl, a screech of defiance, a war whoop! Away with lamentation! Away with elegies and dirges! Away with biographies and histories, and libraries and museums! Let the dead eat the dead. Let us living ones dance about the rim of the crater, a last expiring dance. But a dance!" Henry Miller, Tropic of Cancer, 1934 "...that nothing's so sacred as honor and nothing's so loyal as love.” Gravestone of Wyatt Earp "Peace if possible, truth at all costs." Martin Luther " The mark of a good action is that it appears inevitable in retrospect." & "There is so much good in the worst of us, an so much bad in the best of us, that it behooves all of us not to talk about the rest of us." Robert Louis Stevenson "In the end, we will remember not the words of our enemies, but the silence of our friends." Martin Luther King". critics (not that I owe one single person an explanation for my addictions, my poor choices, my alienation of people who are good for me, or my refusal to live up to my potential) have probably been waiting for. My fear of leaving the house is a metaphor... either for the fear of choosng a path so undesirable to those around me that I find myself following it alone, or a fear of failng. It is a fear so great that it has caused me to quit every dream Ive had before Ive given myself the chance to fail...and consequently to succeed. I am lazy, depressed, fat, and have allowed wanton overpowering anxiety over nothing to make me damn near a succubus for everyone who, in the past, has stopped to offer a hand up. I have procrastinated living a life of my own. The walls of my home are decorated with the spoils of other peoples conquests and the life-altering moments and memorable experiences of everyone I know but me. They are monuments to lives I pretend to relate to and wonderous moments I have, as of yet, only half-ass hoped to find for myself. I owe it to myself first, and those who love me second, to not waste another precious moment dwelling on what maybe, possibly, doubtfully could have been. Today I wll start living. Thank goodness blonde, voluptuous, quick-witted, and stubborn are all characteristcs I consider attributes. Brilliant, beautiful, and self-aware I am just learning to embrace. I still plan on procrastinating, as I am at my best often at the eleventh hour. I forgot how much I love to read. If I lose the 40 pounds Ive put on by July 29th, it will be a miracle...just kidding, Ive always known that its all on me. Namaste.".
