Heather's Story

Well, what can you say when you have celebrated the 50th anniversary of your wedding - and you KNOW that it has been longer than that since you graduated from school! Just does NOT seem possible that so much time has already gone by. In 2011 - it was fifty years since we graduated from Central Business College. Well, of course I thought my teenaged years were ruined forever when we moved from Englewood to Stratton, Colorado in the middle of my Senior Year of High School. Followed by another quick move from Stratton to Scott City, Kansas - so my Dad could keep up with his job. I think I enjoyed my time at Central Business College the most, though. And, of course, I missed my childhood sweetheart, William MacLaren. Bill and I married shortly after I graduated from Central and we both went to work for Hamilton Textiles in Fort Dodge, Iowa. After ten years, William was able to become a partner and the firm was renamed Hamilton and MacLaren textiles. Afterward, we opened a branch office in New Mexico and Bill and I and our growing family moved there to oversee operations. Of course, the great delight and joy of our lives were our children, William Jr. and Christianna Rose. When Mr. Hamilton retired, Bill took over the business and we renamed the company MacLaren Textil...Expand for more
es and moved our headquarters offices to Honolulu, Hawaii. More recently, we were twice blessed when our son, William, and daughter, Christianna, married THEIR childhood sweethearts - and soon were blessed by the arrival of grandchildren William III, Melissa and Alyssa. Of course, watching our business grow, develop and change over the years has kept both Bill and I hopping most of the time. Bill, of course, completed his law degree before we were married. And, after our children were married and settled into homes of their own, I was finally able to return to school and complete my degree program as well. Unfortunately (or perhaps fortunately?) we are a long way from feeling that we have reached a point where we can just take it easy. But, then, again, I am not sure either Bill or I would know what to do with ourselves if the pace of our lives ever slowed down! Days like this, though, I can't help but think about Ms. Ennos, Ms. Boyd and Mr. Schaffer, and all of the other wonderful teachers we had the privilege of knowing at Central. It is hard to believe that so much associated with Central Business College is now gone - but, hopefully, it will NEVER be forgotten! Here is wishing everyone a happy, healthy, safe and prosperous New Year! Heather and Family
