One of Heather's favorite quotes is:"1 Corinthians 13 "Though I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, but have not love, I have become sounding brass or a clanging cymbal. And though I have the gift of prophecy, and understand all mysteries and all knowledge, and though I have all faith, so that I could remove mountains, but have not love, I am nothing. And though I bestow all my goods to feed the poor, and though I give my body to be burned, but have not love, it profits me nothing.Love suffers long and is kind; love does not envy; love does not parade itself, is not puffed up; does not behave rudely, does not seek its own, is not provoked, thinks no evil; does not rejoice in iniquity, but rejoices in the truth; bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. Love never fails." Heard this in a movie "If you don't stand for something, you'll fall for anything". Totally agree that is why on Christ the solid rock I stand.". More about Heather:"Jesus Christ became my Lord and Savior a few years ago. I met my husband while we both were going through some pretty tough times. I remember it was the day after he had gotten into a car accident we were talking on the phone. He had told me that he needed to go back to church, he hadn't been there for a while. What I didn't realize is that what he was saying was that He needed to go back to Jesus, whom he slowly strayed away from throughout the years. I never had a good experience going to church in the past, went to a catholic church with a friends from time to time, but never knew the Lord. But for some reason that day I eagerly told Miguel that I wanted to go with him. I started attending calvary chapel golden springs sometime in the year 2007. It felt like every sunday we would leave church and I would be upset about something and questioning Miguel about what Raul was talking about on the pulpit. And yet I know the Lord was working because every sunday I would want to go back. A while passed, then one ...Expand for more
day in church the Lord called me. The invitation was open just like it was every sunday for people to come up and receive Jesus. Now that I think about it, I'm not so sure I understood perfectly that day what that actually meant. I just remember knowing that God was real that day, that the bible was true, I KNEW I was a sinner (and so did everyone who knew me LOL) and I genuinely wanted Jesus to come into my heart and into my life. And I believe He did. Miguel and I continued to live with eachother, making up the excuse that our intentions were to marry eachother and God knew that, which was not what the bible said. But praise the Lord that He was working even though we didn't know it. One day I was reading my bible and I came across this passage in Hebrews that changed my life. I read Hebrews 10:26-30, and although I didn't understand the context at the time, the Lord knew the right passage to point me to. Miguel and I were continuing to live together making up our own rules, essentially saying thanks for dying on the cross for us Jesus, but um we want to do things our way. That day I fell to my knees in tears asking the Lord to forgive me and to help me follow Him. A couple from the church, who we did not know at the time, had let me move in with them, and I'm so happy to say that the Lord did not allow us to be tempted beyond what we were able. and Miguel and I set a day to be married. I continue to walk with the Lord daily, some days I struggle, and some days I feel so on fire, but most importantly I rest upon Jesus, that while I was a sinner Christ died for me, He didn't wait for me to clean up my act, I came as I was and He took it from there. I would encourage anyone who is reading this that hasn't made Jesus their Lord and Savior to seriously consider it. There is nothing that we can do to earn heaven. The bible says that it only takes one sin to make you guilty, therefore we are sinners before a righteous holy God. God is just and punishes sin. We may be a nice good person, but God needs to uphold the law. But yet out of His love He provides a way to pay. He sent Jesus to live a sinless life and to die on the cross to bare the wrath of our sin, so that when God looks down on us He sees Jesus, we are clothed in His righteousness when we come to Him. Let today be the day of salvation, repent (confess and turn aways from your sin) and follow Jesus all the rest of your days. You won't regret it! God bless!".
