Life
Married Helen Armstrong aug'63, joined active Navy'63-66, Naval Reserve '66-89. worked as civilian for DEPT of DEFENSE
at MARE ISLAND NAVAL SHIPYARD, '66-'96 repairing nuclear submarine electronic equipt.
and transferred to McClellan Air Force Base ('96-'99) to supervise the repair of mobile radar systems used by all MILITARY services at war zones. retired april '99. bought a fifth wheel trailer, joined a RV group and have been taking monthly trips in california. Helen and I bowl in a seniors bowling group.Have girl-Joanna, boy-Eric, one grandson (baseball star) three granddaughters - future models. enjoying retirement and life in general. hope life has been good to you as well. I have lived in Oakland, San Diego, Vallejo, Napa-( we like the wine ), and now at Vacaville , Ca. near TRAVIS AIR FORCE BASE

Helen has been diagnosed with having MS and is having difficulty getting around so she uses an electric scooter or wheel chair transporter when we go shopping or out to eat. we sold our fifth wheel trailer and are staying closer to home and just enjoy the grandkids and their activities. Our grandson is a freshman at Sonoma State, one grandaughter in high school and two gd's in grade school.

I reached my 70th birthday this year. I am not overly religious but I think that my guardian angel has been working overtime to take care of me. I have never spent a night in the hospital. ay that I retired and never needed to file for unemployment compensation. I have seen a lot of my co-workers pass away that were my age or younger. many of them were smokers. my health is good considering being overweight and it is hard to keep the pounds off. However, I still feel that life is great and that I/we have a lot to be thankful for.
We ( our generation) have lived thru a lot of changes in our country . Some good, some bad, but the most damaging has been the housing crisis and recession that we are going thru now. I hope that none of you were hurt by it. Our grand kids are really going to be hurt by it. they are going to need a lot of help from us just to have decent homes. I hope that your guardian angels look out for all of you.
Update 1/14/2014
On August 2013 Helen and I celebrated our 50th wedding anniversary. Our kids and all the grandkids went to Hawaii for 8 days to celebrate. Our health is pretty good and Helen's MS has not progressed since last update. We are looking forward to our 60th........God willing.........more later.
August 2018.....we celebrated our 55th wedding anniversary. Helen has had some improvement on her mobility. The MS has been stopped on it's tracks by the medication and she gets around on electric scooters. she gardens in pots and areas that she can reach from her scooters. We don't travel much due to the stress that it causes and she needs to be close to home. My health is good but I need to lose some weight. It is hard to keep it off.
