Hector's Story
Hi!
Got some free time to read?
Education: I graduated from 8th grade at Encinal Elementary during the "Summer of Love" (1967)! Enrolled at Cotulla High School in the fall of the same year and graduated with the Awesome Cowboy Class of 1971. Quickly enrolled at Laredo Jr. College that fall, graduated in '73, and crossed the street to what was then Texas A&I at Laredo. (Thank God I've never been an Aggie!) Received a B.S. degree in English & History from A&I at Laredo in May '75.
Employment: First professional job after college was with Laredo-Webb County Community Action Agency for 1 1/2 years. Taught English at Laredo's J. W. Nixon High School for 8 years. Taught History at St. Augustine Catholic High School for 1 year. Put in 12 1/2 years of my life with the Texas Employment Commission, and then they discarded us like last week's kitty litter. (Thank you, Mr. George Dubya Bush!) Finally wound up my career by working 6 1/2 years at what is now Laredo Community (Jr.) College. Now I'm totally useless! No, actually, I'm a soap opera critic at home! ;-)
Personal Life: Married once to Julia Roberts. (Ok, ok, I'm just kidding!) Actually, I've been married to the same woman (Diana Casso) for the past 24 years, and she kee...Expand for more
ps gettin' meaner every day! We have one child, a strikingly handsome 20-year-old son named Noel. (I'll post his picture in the pictures section.) Noel graduated from Laredo's Alexander High School in May 2008, went to LCC for 2 years and decided college life is not for him. He is currently in the process of joining the U.S. Navy.
If I had the chance to do it all over again, would I? Yes, but the second time around I'd try to be less of a nerd and kick more a**!
Which teachers inspired me? Geez! There's too many too mention, and I'd hate to omit anyone! I'd say MOST of them... as most of them were tremendous teachers and great human beings. There were a few, however, who had no business being in a classroom. That's just the way life is.
Who was my biggest crush? Again, there's too many too mention. (I was a very sexy kid, but nobody else knew it except me!) Lucky for my crushes, they married someone else! ;-)
What about me would surprise everyone at my high school reunion? Well, the fact that I've gotten better with age. In fact, if I live to be 200, I'll be out-of-this-world!!!
Well, that's about it. Please send an e-mail, otherwise I wrote this brilliant profile for nuthin'!
Regards,
