Heidi's Story
I have lived in the Seattle area since 1974 when I moved here with my then boyfriend, now husband, Ronald Long (amazing to think we've been together for 35 years!). So, I guess I have to own up to the reality of being more a Washingtonian than a Californian at this point. Though I still long for the milder California climate and the smell of eucalyptus and acacia that I associate so strongly with Palo Alto. My early years here were filled with college (UW~ Go Huskies!) and performing in an East European dance ensemble (Radost). ing babies (2). We also moved to Germany for a couple of years, which was a real highlight in our lives that afforded us much opportunity for great travel. Currently, we are in the process of emptying the nest and enjoying taking over the vacated rooms in the house! Our daughter, Anneliese (24), is at the UW starting her 2nd year in the Pharmacy Doctorate program , while Tristan (21) is starting his senior year at Willamette University where he is a Spanish major. We are "thinking" retirement at this point, though it won't be a reality for a few more years, and we are looking forward to having time to develop some long simmering interests and, of course, more travel.
