Helen's Story

What a journey this has been. When I see names that ring a bell, it takes me back to the wonderful days of carefree, happy wonder. There are not too many of us that have made it this far, but then again, not everyone signs up for this website. We loose contact with the friends we grew up with & were so close to, some through death, illness relocation, etc. I am so glad to have grown up in a time when there was no bullying, fighting, petty nonsense. It is frightening to see what has happened to this country. No one remembers me, no one answeres my msgs, maybe because I was so very quiet, low profile. I worked all my life, starting with babysitting, then Horn & Hardart, while in Germantown High school. Raised two daughters, who each had one child. I have two grandchildren & two great grandchildren. My greatgrandson is a senior, graduating this year, in West Virginia. I retired from the DOD, Dept of Navy, in...Expand for more
1995, continued to work & volunteer for 10 more years. Does anyone remember me?. They told me I looked like Jennifer Jones. I, being unassuming, could not see it. My penny loafers were always shining as I polished them every nite. Girls used to ask me what shampoo I used (Prell) because my long dark hair was so shinny & clean. Ring a bell? The teahers used to call my name fashown & thought I was French, because, I had freckles & light skin. My father dropped the O from our last name because there was a lot of predjuice against Italians. This was disheartining as my Dad was a college graduate CPA Pierce Business School, & we lived in a beautiful new house built by Grace Kelly's uncle. Very refined neighborhood, & strict upbringing. People are sometimes very ignorant & hopefully they outgrow the hatred that I believe is instilled in them by their parents. Ciao peace, love & happiness to everyone. Helen
