Helen's Story
Life
After graduating from high school I attended Westfield State College and then transferred to U.C. Berkeley. I continued with my major in Spanish and graduated in 1971. I met my husband, Scott, at Berkeley, and we married in 1974. We then moved to Sacramento CA and have lived in the area ever since. We have one son, Devin, who is 25 and a U.C. Davis graduate.
After college I worked for Pacific Bell for 20+ years in a middle management position. I took an "early out" offer and went back to school to get my teaching credential. I taught grades 4-6 for 7 years and then decided it was time to just...Expand for more
relax.
I stay "happy" by gardening, camping, reading, traveling, and spending weekends at our cabin in the Cascade Mountains. It is located at the 5000 ft level so I have been able to enjoy the sense of seasons and the always enjoyable activity of shoveling snow! This year (2008) we started snow-shoeing and found it to be great fun!
I guess if there was one chance for a "do-over" in my life I would not have worked during my son's early childhood years. He turned out great but I know there's a lot of "special moments" that I missed. Oh well, there's always the prospect of grandkids for a redo!
