Helene's Story
Life
My husband and I are in our second year of retirement and are having wonderful times! Thank goodness for excellent health: we can go where we want when we want, and have no worries to undermine our happiness.
NOW: Looking back at what I wrote then, what a wonderful life we were living! May 10th, 2008, began a nightmare for Pat and me. Our beautiful girl, our first baby, our daughter we love so very much was murdered. Life now is sorrow, regret, and trying to cope with what was done to our girl.
The man accused is named David C. DeJonge. I believe with all my being that he is guilty of this tragic, horrible murder, and the authorities have done an amazing job of finding enough evidence of his guilt to charge him with open murder. Mr. DeJonge is currently in jail in Kalkaska, MI. On Monday, 9/22/08, we will go to a pre-jury selection hearing ...Expand for more
not because we have to, but to represent our daughter. I pray he's found guilty when this goes to trial, or better yet, that he will find the courage to plead guilty to his crimes. He's already admitted what he did to Sarah to a fellow inmate, and that fellow testified at the arraignment as to DeJonge's confiding that he killed her, dismembered her, and got rid of her body. What a nightmare!!!!!
Sarah's little boy deserved better that this. Poor little guy!!! Sarah had been in the process of trying to get back on her feet, but people with alcohol problems have set-backs sometimes, and DeJonge is believed to have murdered her after he supplied her with alcohol.
I would never have believed that any of this could happen to our family. Sarah is precious to us, and we will do what we can to represent her. This must not happen to another young woman.
