Linda's Story
Here I am 68 years old now and wondering where all the years went.
During high school I didn't get involved in school activities. I was too busy earning money by working at a gift shop, babysitting, and housecleaning. I also worked for an hour a day at an elementary school as an assistant to their secretary. That job helped me when I applied for a clerical job at McClellan Air Force Base. I was able to graduate from high school in June and go to work as a clerk typist in July. Eventually, I retired from the government as a secretary at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base Ohio. ool, and that was what I could afford.
My husband, Derald, and I have lived in Mt Juliet Tennessee for over two years now and we're enjoying living close to Nashville. I do miss the warmer climate of Florida where we had lived for 10 years before coming to TN. It's nice to be just one day's drive away from our older daughter, Tammy Kirsch, in Missouri and our younger daughter, Angie Allard Gallo, in Ohio. The only family I have left in Sacramento is my brother, Jerry Helman. This is such a mobile society--my other brother, sister and I moved to other states because of job transfers.
