Henry's Story

Update---It's now 5 years later. I've retired and enjoy not wearing a watch anymore. I moved to Fairhope, AL and enjoy helping with my 2 grandkids...2 and 4. I went to our 45th (Highlands' 50th) reunion a year ago and again enjoyed reconnecting with classmates. I'm still in relatively good health and hope to make it to our 50th. If you're ever in this area, please, please make an effort to get in touch! 9/17/09 Life I attended the 1963 reunion last year after a 39-40 year hiatus. I thoroughly enjoyed reconnecting with former classmates and have maintained contact with 10-12 while catching up with the "lost" 40 years. Hopefully that will continue, and we'll be much more familiar with each other for our 45th. My Dad retired from the AF, and we moved back to Alabama in 1964. Those of you that remember me know that I am not the brightest person in the world, but I was able to complete my BA and MA at the Univ. of Alabama in Counseling and Guidance. I have been working for the State for the past 35 years as a Rehabilitation Counselor/Supervisor, and hope to continue working for another 3...Expand for more
+ years. I met and married my wife Frances, and she has endured my jokes for 34 years. She is a Sp. Ed. teacher. We have 3 children who are my prides and joy. As parents you want your children to do better than you do, and fortunately Frances and I set pretty low standards, so they didn't have to work hard. My oldest girl is a doctor, middle child has her MBA, and my youngest is in the final year getting his PhD in Statistics. I couldn't help them after 7th grade! I still enjoy life, jokes, tennis, golf, my family and the renewal of contact with classmates. I'm also expecting my first grandchild and am really excited about that. Other than the normal aches and pains associated with aging, I'm in relatively good health. Hopefully, if any of you remember me from our years together at Highlands, I'd love to hear from you. My memory isn't what it used to be, but hopefully I'll remember some of the good times we spent together. Since the reunion, I keep the yearbook close, so I'll at least be able to look up the person at the other end of the e-mail. Hope you're enjoying life! Hank
