Henry's Story
Life
Life is good. I enjoy who I am. I am happy to have good people around me, with friends and family being very helpful and supportive. I look forward to the future.
School
I loved High School, yet I hated it. I'm glad it is over, yet I wish I could go back and fix some things about it. I wish I would have had the sense to work harder in High School, to set myself up for an easier time in College. Unfortunately, the biggest problem with HS is the people... and when combined with the work and new experiences, the confusion clouds reason. I'm much more comfortable with my position in life now; I don't feel that I was ready to be myself yet while still in High School.
College
College was fun, but in general it was a big hassle. I have two Associates Degrees. The first one is in Broadcast Telecommunications; I worked in the television industry for a few years, and decided to go back to school to get a Computer Science Degree. I attended University at Albany, where I completed many of the requirements I needed for the BS, with a minor in Psychology. Due to financial considerations,...Expand for more
I decided to leave Albany and complete my second Associates Degree in Computer Technology back at Suffolk Community College. Since receiving the second degree, I have worked in the IT field, first as a Wireless Networking Engineer, and now in the CCTV Video Surveillance industry. I'm glad that the career I am in now uses all of the skills that I learned while completing both degrees in college, I just wish it wasn't such a long process to get from there to here.
Workplace
I began working for CBC (America) Corp. in February, 2004. I am a Digital Sales Support Executive (big title) in their Imaging Technology Department. Translation: I work on computers and other components that deal with video surveillance and remote monitoring. I enjoy my work; I am half in sales and half in technical support and I'm also involved with product development and our international team of engineers and developers. This is the first job I've had since graduating where I really felt like I belonged and all of my skills are being utilized. The company is solid, with offices and departments all over the world.
