More about Henry:"I guess what defines me is a certain creative passion for inventing myself without much regard for the normal constraints. So with that said, like the rest of the world I would like to be in love. I'm moved by beauty, brilliance and a since of style. But I only feel real passion for women of emotional generosity. I fantasize about finding someone with whom I could build something. If you want endless repetition be with a lot of different people. If you want infinite variety be with only one. I came from a very loving, giving family, so I have no demons to exorcise, no heavy emotional baggage. I'm willing to take emotional risks when the inspiration is right, which I feel rarely, but profoundly when I do feel it. I'm a black hair, brown-eyed black man looking for love (in all the wrong places). I value a woman who understands that a relationship, be it dating or friendship takes an effort on both sides- both people have to be willing to work at it. I like quiet evenings and wild evening; either is made perfect by the company of one, and only one dangerously interesting woman. We often cannot see that we have choices...No matter what happens we always have choices. The hurt we experience in bad relationships sometimes keeps us at a distance from responsible choices. I am learning to overcome my limitations and develop my capacity to love again, not because I expect love in return but because my partner deserve...Expand for more
s to be loved. When I was finally able to change my perception I became more able to give Love without expecting anything. I was able, also, to forgive. Now, I can look back on every relationship and find value in each one. I am grateful for all of them, even and especially the ones that were the most difficult and challenging. I recognize those as the ones that gave me the greatest opportunity to grow. I no longer need anything, to feel safe with giving Love. I try to give my Love to everyone, now. I am even able to apply this Love to myself. I don't feel the need to beat myself up or berate myself because of my flaws or shortcomings. I don't judge myself so harshly any more. True, I am still human and I often still fall short of being loving all the time. But the improvements I've made, so far, have changed my life in marvelous ways. This has played a large part in helping me find peace within. It used to be that I would long for Love and couldn't find it. I know now that the reason I couldn't find the kind of Love I wished for was because I had not, first, given it. I've come to realize that we only get back what we have given. So with all that said, look closely at your own behaviors, and the conditions you put on your love. You might possibly find that the Love you hope for is not the love you've given. There has been one challenge for me in holding this new point of view. I no longer feel the need to live up to the expectations of others, in order to gain or keep their love and acceptance. I no longer jump through hoops for people who still attach conditions and expectations to the love they offer me….either do I attach any conditions or expectations to my love. I hope that I’m not sounding preachy but this is how I see it.".
