Herbert's Story

1970-1971, my first year in St Louis and only year at Normandy. Both were the best. Standing now on the verge of 60, life has been and continues to be good. I moved to Tucson, AZ in 78 with my Kenon. In 82 we moved to Natchitoches, LA. A good friend of mine I was in the Air Force with made me a job offer I couldn't refuse. The next 3 years were the very best for us both. I worked for my friend in his warehouse, opened a night club that had been closed for years, and built & managed a marina on the Cane river. As good as life was there, I had no family there so my son returned to St Louis, and I returned to Tucson in 1885.Upon returning to AZ I became a counselor in a program working with juveniles assigned to us, and with inmates in the nearby prisons. In 88 I went home to Philly for 13 years. Married, again, & my beautiful daughter Summer was born. The next 13 years I worked in a major super market chain in customer service. Tired again, of inner city blues, & winter, I returned to Tucson and my new job, "Sky Cap." Life is good!!! For the next 9 years I loved my job. Married, again, mistake, again. Life is still good, in spite of. Then, my knees:-( , must have been all those jump shots :-) no more sky capping for me. As I had given my life to Christ years earlier, I was called to preach & teach, the Word of God. Now, the best of life. I went to school, became a minister, & have found my joy & peace in serving God. I love preaching & teaching, God's Word. No, not married again. From 2003-2010 I served at Siloam Freewill...Expand for more
Church in Tucson, Az. The greatest moments in those years were when I was asked to speak in the church my father pastored for 22 years, and when my parents, while visiting AZ came to hear me speak in my church. God, has been so good to me, and very patient. His love is matchless... After retiring from sky capping, I moved to Tempe to spend a year and a half with my brother Greg. I love Tempe. This is HOME... Life has truly gone full circle for me. I was born in Riverside, CA, & am now living in Woodland Hills, CA, not far from Riverside. I am retired, healthy, happy, and looking forward to preaching, and teaching the Word of God, & marriage LOL... I will be returning to Tempe in 2015. Love ya Normandy, but I've got to go... My interests include, the pursuit of God & His knowledge, time with her, my precious friends, Enjoying My Wonderful Family, , Baseball, San Francisco 49ers, St. Louis Cardinals, Vernon Davis, Adam Wainwright, Chris Carpenter. Music likes includes Gil Scott-Heron, George Clinton, Billie Holiday, Sarah Vaughan, Funk, blues, jazz, & Books likes include The Coldest Winter Ever, I Ain't Much Baby but I'm All I've Got, Autobiography of Malcolm X.
