Life Born in Miami but my family moved to Ft. Lauderdale when I was 6 months old. Went to South Side Elementary from first to six grade. After the sixth grade my family moved to Ocala where I went to Junior High School. That was 1956-58. Then my Dad wanted to move to Melbourne where I began high school. A little better than Ocala due to the ocean which I missed but still no Lauderdale. During the second semester of my senior year we moved back to Ft.Laud. but where my dad found a house was in the Stranahan H.S.'s district. I wanted to go to FLHS where all my friends from elementary school went...oh well. After graduating from high school I took some art classes and a couple years later got a job at the Ft. Lauderdale News, now the Sun-Sentinel, owned by the Chicago Tribune. After a few years in the Art.Dept. I got into sales and made some decent money for not going to college. Started in 1962 and retired in 2003... November. 41.5 years at one place. Plus the Tribune had a great retirement pension which I turned over into a 401K to my Morgan-Stanley guy. I hate to say it but my first Social Security check comes this month! I don't know where all the time went. Can't believe I just turned 62. Dad passed away at 82 and Mom died at 88, both a few years ago. Have a daughter who will be 37 next month, Her name is Jill.
