Richard's Story
Life
After graduation I went into the Army where I spent the next 8+ years. While in the Army I traveld all over the world. I started out at Ft. McClellan, AL. From ther I went to Germany for 18 months. After Germany I went to Lackland Airforce Base where I learned to be a patrol dog handler. Next I went to Ft. Leavenworth, Ks wher I was a street patrolman and later in The Crime Prevention office where I spoke, as McGruff the Crime Prevention Dog, to school kids about safety and staying out of trouble. When I left Ft. Leavenworth I went to the Defence Language Institute where I learned the basics of speaking and reading Arabic. Next was Ft Ord, CA. from where I traveled to Panama twice, once for a rotation deployment and after recovering from a training accident I went again during Just Case. anama I was transfered to Ft. Carson, CO. From Ft. Carson I deployed first to Saudi Arabia on my way to Iraq for Desert Shield/Desert Storm. After I got back from there I spent about 6 months in Colorado and then found myself in Guantanamo Bay, Cuda babysitting 5000-7500 Hatian Refugees. When I got out in 1993 I moved to the Kansas City area where I have been ever since. I worked as a mover and a commercial move supervisor for about 8-9 years before I started at the Post Office. I am now a Customer Service Supervisor for the Post Office.
I live in a little town called Basehor on the outskirts of Kansas City with my wife of almost 19 years and 3 children, a daughter 16 and to sons 14 and 13.
