Hester's Story
After graduation, my dad got the "Going to Texas" itch and at 17, I didn't have much choice except to come with the family. I hated Texas for two years, but have lived here so long now, it's become tolerable. Finished my education here with a BFA in Interior design from the University of Houston and then an MBA from Pepperdine University. After graduating from the U of H, I practiced commercial interior design for a while, then found I loved the business end of the business more than the creative. At that point, I got my MBA and found work in a field that was just being named: Facility Management. I worked in Facility Management for Pennzoil (what a beautiful building they ha...Expand for more

I married, had two children and divorced. Don't we all. Much later, I married again but he died after 6-1/2 years much to my regret because we had both retired and the golden years stretched ahead of us. Since his death, I have remained in Lakeway, a relatively small community outside Austin amusing myself with some local politics, tennis, bridge and volunteering. Some days I want to remove myself to a hermit's cabin in the mountains of New Mexico, but mostly I wake up every morning thankful for good health, good friends and, all things considered, a very good life.
