Melanie's Story
Life
After graduation, I attended Anderson College and later graduated from MBI in Atlanta, GA. I got married and had two beautiful daughters while living in Atlanta. Mari Clare was born in 1993 and Kelsey in 1995. In 1996 I returned to South Carolina with my girls. In 2002 I had a son, Alan. Currently, I am the Vice President of a mortgage company in Bluffton, SC.
* UPDATE May 2005
This year, Mari Clare is finishing sixth grade at McCracken Middle School and Kelsey is finishing 3rd grade at MC Riley Elementary. Mari Clare is a gifted artist and I hope she continue to pursue her dreams. She will be moving back to Atlanta this summer. Kelsey is active in Girl Scouts and loves bike riding. She just tried out for MC Riley's drum team and really hopes to get in next year. Alan is ALL BOY. He's very much into sports even though he's not quite 3 years old. He loves soccer, can throw a football like a star quarterback, and his new passion is golf! He is quite the little engineer also, just like his dad. Very bright kid. I recently purchased a home at The Farm in Bluffton as we are loving our new neighborhood. I'm enjoying decorating the new house, landscaping the yard and relaxing on the patio after a long day's work.
* UPDATE December 2006
We just had a wonderful Christmas holiday. All the kids were with me this year which was wonderful!. Mari Clare will be 14 in couple of weeks and I can't believe she's not my baby girl anymore. She is doing well in school and is quite a gifted artist. She also has a beautiful voice and enjoys singing like her mother. Kelsey, who is 11 now, LOVES The Cheetah Girls! For Christmas I got us tickets to go see them in Charleston and she's very excited. She is still in Girl Scouts and loves singing as well. She's a Varsity memeber of The Singing Ealgles. Alan, 4, got a new motobike for Christmas and he's already trying to do tricks on it. It's sort of like a motorcross bike but it's still got training wheels. He is ALL BOY and I'm sure will spend his life making his mother nervous watching him do tricks on a bike, jumping off anything he can find to climb u...Expand for more
p on, playing every kind of sport imaginable, etc.!
*UPDATE July 2007
So much is going on this summer! I had a wonderful vacation this year to California/Las Vegas. Greg and I went to Sequoia National Park, Yosemite National Park and Death Valley National Park and also spent a few days in Vegas. Then I went to Philladelphia with the kids for the 4th of July where my oldest daughter was honored by being one of the Liberty Bell Tappers this year. We stopped in Washington, DC on the way home and did a tour at Arlington National Cemetary and watched the changing of the guard at the Tomb of the Unknowns. After taking off two weeks for my trips, I started a new job which I am really enjoying. I have joined Mortgage Authority of SC, LLC. Leaving my old boss of 10 years was a very difficult decision but I am excited about this new opportunity. My oldest daughter starts High School in a couple of weeks. Knowing myself as a teenager, I am terrified! My middle child is starting Middle School in August. And my baby boy just makes the cut off to start Kindergarten this year. My dad is going through treatment for leukemia but is doing well so far. We are praying that he goes into remission soon.
*UPDATE February 2008
My dad passed away just after Thanksgiving while awaiting a stem cell transplant. It has been a difficult few months for me trying to adjust to life without my mom and dad. (Mom passed in 1991.) Some days are better than others. Christmas was especially hard this past year and I know that it will ever be the same again. Maybe it's a sign of getting older, but LOTS of people I know have died in the past few months. 17 by my last count. I've had enough of funerals for a while. Maybe it's a sign that we should all be prepared because you just never know when your time will be up.
*UPDATE August 2008
Mari Clare is moving back home with me after spending the past 3 years in Atlanta with her dad. I am so thrilled to have her home! She will be in 10th grade at Bluffton High School. Kelsey is going into 7th at HE MCCracken Middle School. Alan will be a 1st grader at Cross Episcopal School.
