Nickie's Story
Well how do I start. Married 1st time at 19, way too young. Had a beautiful daughter and we finally escaped after moving 27 times in 3 years. Found a wonderful man and remarried 37 years ago. Have lived in Utah for way too long. I worked Child Protection for The State of Utah for 21 years and finally retired April 2015. After 1 1/2 years retirement, went back to work for school district working with grades K-5 youth in custody, right up my alley.
Love to travel...and want to do a lot of that in retirement, if the economy allows.
Have 3 wonderful children, 2 girls, one boy. We now have 6 beautiful grandsons, ages 2 to 23 years. Three of them are into football.. Football runs in our blood.
I love college football (Fresno State) and of course watching our grandsons play. We love to go boating, fishing, 4-wheeling and just getting out and walking. Zion National Park is in our back yard so visiting and walking the paths are an exciting and beautiful escape. Lake Powell is also close and when we had our boat we went a lot. . We enjoyed water skiing and teaching many many friends to ski. I would love to ski again - my mind says no problem...body?, that's another question.
Looking back at high school, it was a great time. Wish I pounded the books more though...love to 'talk' to past friends. I do miss ...Expand for more
the friends I had in school. Taft was a great experience in many aspects. Come chat with me on Facebook, Nickie Hill Stocks.
Update to 2022
Lots have happend since I reached my 70's. Just after I hit the magic number 70, our son committed suicide - he hung himself. He had demons, too many to deal with in his married life and personal demons.. You never know who is suffering to the point they think ending their life will be best. He left 2 precious boys who are lost..
Our daughter and 2 of her boys moved in with us - heck we have 3 bedrooms and bath upstairs we don't use. My daughter has worked for DCFS 10 years and transferred to the office I retired from just before our Steve took his life. Her youngest will be a senior this year playing football, or course and is on the wrestling team, going to State last year!!
Then I retired for good on 12 November 2021 and on 19 November, I slipped and fell breaking my femur which has resulted in 2 surgeries since the bone didn't want to cooperate the first time! OH YEA, this is retirement? I have tried to learn patience but for an old Italian woman, it's been hard - non weight bearing for 4 of those months but I am walking with a walker now - a cute pink one with flower decals.
Keeping a smile on my face after my pity party for one didn't work. 2023 will be better!
