Melvin's Story
Life
After High School I came back to Los Angeles and did a year at Compton Junior College. At the end of 62, married and moved to San Francisco, where I began working with my father in his chrome plating buisness.
After receiving enough experience moved back to Los Angeles and worked for Henry Sauce and Company for a few years. I then began to work for National Missle and Electronics Company. Later on I began to work with adolescents ages 12 to 18 in the Psychiatric Hospital at LAC-USC Medical Center. It was a short term crisis adolescents ward, and the only one of this kind on the west coast. I worked there a little over 18 years. I have been married twice, and currently over 21 years. I have 10 kids which includes three daughters, triplet sons, and twin sons. I have eighteen grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren. All which live here in Los Angeles, and I am very close to each of them.
I collect Snoopies which I currently have over 4,000 snoopy items. I also collect antigue cameras, and I am very heavily into music.I have been riding my bike in the LA Marathon for the last 4 years, and I do almost all of the 3 K walks.
I was the first black to letter in tennis at Perris high, in which I am still playing. I bowl,and I am in the process of learning golf. I like to go to shows, and plays, I basically like to do a varity of things because I believe it makes life more interesting.
