Hiroaki's Story

Life Dr. Hiroaki Izumi is a Managing Director with MNX ICS, specializing in organizational transformation. He is a recognized authority with both North American and International experience through his academic publications in the fields of organizational transformation and international business. He has worked in organizational redesign with Dr. Barry A. Macy of the Texas Center for Productivity and Quality of Work Life and has recently returned from a four-year stint in Hong Kong, teaching and doing research on Asian business. Dr. Izumi’s academic learning and consulting experience are supported by his experience as a chief executive officer in a small film production corporation, and as a partner in several businesses involved in the software production, corporate security, oil, and coffee businesses. His consulting experience is largely in the chemical and plastics process industries with clients such as Exxon Plastics, Monsanto, Clorox, and Graham Magnetics. As part of Dr. Macy’s team, Dr. Izumi conducted analyses of the human resources systems, unit processes, job analyses, and management structures in these organisations. As well, he has worked on implementation of strategic planning, management and organisational development, questionnaire development, plant automation, and management restructuring. Most recently, Dr. Izumi was an Associate Professor and the Program Director of the Police Executive Management Programs of the Faculty of Administration, University of Regina. His backgrounds in policing, organisational transformation, film production, and management made him uniquely qualified in the production of distributed learning options in the Senior Police Executive Educational Development (S.P.E.E.D.) or police officers who need to deal with the new policing demands of the 21st Century. At the time of its implementation, the distributed learning system was the most advanced in the world of its kind. It provided executive training and management development on-line using a Graphics Learning Interface system that provides instructor-mediated interactivity to ensure the highest quality of learning. Dr. Izumi's key functions in MNX ICS have focused on his background as researcher and change team leader and educator. He has been expanding the tools used in the Enterprise-Wide Diagnostic Assessments and Meta-Analytic Benchmarking Pro-cess. He has also been reassessing the job evaluation tools to improve their validity and reliability. His hands-on experience in managing change and research teams makes him a logical choice for directing operations of MNX ICS teams. Another key role played by Dr. Izumi, based on his educational background, is as the operational director of knowledge transfer projects. His almost twenty years in post-secondary education and executive development provides him with the highest level of qualifications for directing MNX ICS knowledge transfer programs. Dr. Izumi’s success in consulting is largely the result of his academic applied research methodology to real, practical problems faced by today’s organizations. The scientific process ensures that results are valid and reliable – they are meaningful and can be repeated. Another key to his success is the consulting process in which he emphasizes knowledge transfer to the client. The third and most important aspect of his success is the use of the most advanced technology to leverage the consulting process for his clients. The research he conducted and validated as an academic is being put to real-world problems.
