Debbie's Story
An old friend came back into my life recently. They wanted to get to know the Debbie of today. In thinking about that question - who am I, in a nutshell -This is what I told them.
I am extremely loyal to my friends and family! I have a low tolerance for people who are not. My friends would tell you that I am a strong, focused and driven woman. They would also tell you that I talk alot.
A staff member of mine told me that one of the things she has learned about me is that you are either on Debbie's team or you are not -- and you want to be on Debbie's team. Then she said she had never met anyone like me. I laughed and said, well, I am not sure if that is a good or bad thing, but I am going to take it as a good thing. She laughed and said, "It is a good thing!"
People tend to either like me or hate me. There doesn't seem to be a lot of middle ground where I am concerned. I am not sure why, there just isn't.
I expect the absolute best out of myself and those around me. I set high standard for myself and I lead by example. I love what I do and I love the people I work with. I am usually in constant combat with the...Expand for more
authorities in my life ¿ big surprise ¿ I don't do authority well!!!!!!!!
In my personal life, my biggest strength is being there for my family and friends when they need me. My children and grandchildren are my life!!
I believe strongly in the Christian value of service to others.
I love country music (you can take the girl out of Texas)!! I also listen to a lot of Christian and classic rock music.
I am a bit impulsive, but I like to think of it as living in the moment. A VERY dear friend of mine told me that I fill the space I live in -- I like that!! I believe that laughter is the best medicine and a good sense of humor can go a long, long way.
Things I would like to do before I go to see my Lord and Savior: Go to Scotland (that is where my family is from), see all of the United States, ride in hot air balloon, participate in an overseas mission trip, go on a Safari, walk on beaches all over the world ¿ that's the diehard romantic talking, and watch all my grandchildren graduate college and see them all get married.
If an old friend came back into your life and asked that question what would you tell them?
