Holly's Story
I am a Graduate of Gallistel (68), St. Francis De Sales (72), and Quincy University (College) (76). I was married to Patrick McHale in 1984 and remained his wife until 2011. Unfortunately, he had cancer and succumbed to it in September 2011. We never had any children, but I do have two grandchildren (from Pat's son from a previous marriage). They are Alex (22 years old) and Kyle Patrick (15). They live in Boca Raton, FL, so I do not get to see them as often as I would like. Patrick and I moved to Saint Cloud, FL, in August of 2003, due to his health issues. The climate here really helped him overcome the numerous surgeries and reconstructions he had, due to his cancer. Oh and YES, we were here for the three hurricanes, Charley, Frances, and Jeanne. The eye of each of the storms were right here. Very scary and a lot of damage to our house. It took months to get a new roof on the house and the pool cage was not replaced for a year, due to lack of materials and manpower. Everything has since been repaired, and life goes on!
I started my teaching career as a teacher's aide in Harvey, Illinois, (The District Developmental Center) and was there for a year. I then moved to Annunciata School and was a Math Teacher for 27 years. I am currently teaching in Osceola County (Disneyworld Area) in Florida. I have been teaching Middle Schoo...Expand for more
l Math here for 10 years and counting. I plan on retiring at 40 years in, so the light at the end of the tunnel is getting brighter!! I also received a National Award in 2009. The Award is the PRISM Award. It stands for "Promoting Recognition in Science and Mathematics". The Award Ceremony was held at a Banquet Hall at SeaWorld in Orlando. Each County had a Science and Math teacher represented.
I return to the Chicago area every summer and stay there with my sister Dawn. She is the only sibling left in the area. My sisters Bonnie and Dawn and I began a tradition of an annual Sisters Trip. We have been to the Bahamas, Cancun, a Cruise, and a trip to my brother Steve's in Denver, CO. Dawn and I are going to Cozumel this spring break!! We are really looking forward to it!!
All in all, that is the summary of my life since High School. One more thing. I did remain active in sports until finally giving up at the age of 37. Softball was my major sport. My team (Fannings Rebels from Blue Island, Ill) was inducted into the Softball "Hall of Fame" in 2008. I was unable to attend, due to my commitment to school, but received a call from my sister Dawn and other teammates from the Induction Ceremony. It was quite an honor!!
To all that come to Disney, think of me. It is 25 minutes from my house, and I have yet to go there!! How funny!!
