Howard's Story

Life I have lived my entire life in the Province of Ontario, Canada. I spent my early years split between the Lakehead (Port Arthur) and Guelph. When I was 10 we moved to Kirkland Lake, where I attended Grade 5, (Mrs. Hardy's class, I believe). I would like to correspond with anyone else who attended that class. Then we moved to Hamilton, where I took my remaining 3 years of public school at Adelaide Hoodless School. I took my grades 9 and 10 at Delta. Just prior to my attendance there it was known as Delta Collegiate Institute, but in 1951 the name changed to Delta Secondary School. In the summer of 1953 we moved to Amherstburg, where I took my last 3 years of high school at Amherst High School (also known as General Amherst High School) and I graduated from Grade 13 in June of 1956. The Principal at that time was W.K. Sidey, and the Vice-Principal, (in charge of all the vices) was Phillip Gibb. At Amherst High, I would be best remembered perhaps, as the dashing and handsome Cadet Lieutenant, who commanded the Flag Party for our annual cadet inspection. The RSM (George Makra) told me that he used the Flag Party as the basis to position (dress) the entire regiment on the parade square. I then devised methods to align the Flag Party perfectly and properly on the parade square. Then when the RSM dressed the parade, everybody looked good. The entire regiment really put their collective heart into their marching that day, and we had a super inspection. We won the Strathcona Trophy for that inspection, and all officers received a commemorative jacket crest. I'm no longer dashing and handsome, but ...Expand for more
that jacket crest (51 years old) looks good as new! After graduation, I worked at Chrysler Corp. at menial jobs, and then at a few other unimportant jobs around Windsor. I left the area, and moved to Toronto circa 1961. I worked at various unimportant jobs around Toronto, and Aurora, and then got married in 1974, and moved to the Barrie area in 1976. I stomped around various jobs, just trying to keep the wolf away from the door, and got divorced in 1996. Since then I do this and that to keep busy and to buy groceries. I own my home, and have lived in it for over 30 years. I still chase women also, but I've forgotten why. My hobbies are radio-controlled model aircraft, photography, boating, and electronics. At present I am working on electronic experiments to develop free electricity, in ways that are presently unknown to the general public. There's lots of free energy out there - it just needs to be harnassed. Lately I've revived my interest in '50's music (pre-rock). I don't mind some of the slow rock, don't like the hard rock or anything on the pop charts since then. I like the fifties ballads. I have three favourites, which have remained my favourites all these years. The third one is "Make Love to Me" by Jo Stafford, which was released in 1954. the second one is "Cross Over The Bridge" by Patti Page, released in 1955, and my top, all-time favourite is "Wayward Wind" by Gogi Grant, which was released in 1956, and went to the top of the pop chart for 8 weeks, knocking Elvis Presley's Heartbreak Hotel into 2nd place. I have recently gathered together a collection of over 500 fifties tunes.
