Howard's Story
After leaving high school, I took a job as a security guard at an office-hotel complex in Washington, D.C. I think it was called the Watergate. Nothing much happened there, maybe a break-in every once in a while. Then in the eighties, I was working as a architect in Germany with my Russian partner. We were trying to build houses using an open-concept floor plan. I kept telling him, tear down that wall, Mr. Gorbachev. In the nineties, I dated a flirtatious girl named Monica. We used to meet secretly in a little room where she worked near her oval office. I still wonder whatever happened to that blue dress she wore. In the nineties, I had a friend Steve who worked for a fruit company. He got mad at me for not calling him often enough. I said I can't call you when I'm on the road, there aren't enough payphones around. He said he would work on something to solve my problem. I said, try your best, I phone a lot. Then I went on a trip with my friend Jeff down a river somewhere in South America. We ran out of supplies and there weren't any stores around, so I told him it would be really cool if we could order stuff on the computer and have it delivered to us. He said it was a prime idea; he would think about it. Never heard from him again. What a space cadet. Several years ago, I had a job working as an apprentice on a reality TV show. The guy in charge didn't like my work and kept screaming at me, you're fired! I...Expand for more
thought he was so forceful and so tough, I told him he should run for president and make America great again. I wonder whatever happened to him. Then I was on another road trip with my friend, Elon, when we ran out of gas. I said to him, I hate the fact that we have to keep filling the tank with gasoline. If only there was another way. He said he would ask his friend Tess in LA who works for an electrical company. Whatever become of him, I don't know. In 2019, I took a job as a janitor in a virology lab in Wuhan, China. While working with some lab specimens, I accidently spilled some stuff on the floor, but I cleaned it up real good with a chemical they gave me, hydroxychloroquine, so everything's OK, I guess. Lately, I've been seeing another friend, who prefers to remain anonymous, who's into digital currency. I told him I didn't like his idea for a crypto coin one bit. I'm sure nobody's gonna invest in that. My other accomplishments since leaving high school include being in charge of the deal to keep the Chargers in San Diego, picking Ryan Leaf and trading quarterback Drew Brees to the New Orleans Saints, managing the campaign to elect nice guy Bob Filner as San Diego mayor, and dissuading all my friends and family from investing in San Diego real estate because it will never be worth more than it was in 1972. So you see, I've had a very boring, uninteresting life. I hope you guys have done better than me.
