Hugh's Story
Life
Most of you know that I graduated from Attica High School, Attica,Indiana, in 1956. However, since my father was a minister and we moved around quite a bit I went to many other schools before I moved to Attica. I went to school in Lyons,Indiana from the 7th grade to the 10 grade. Prior to that I was in the 6th grade in Albion,Illinois; the 5th grade in Grayville,Illinois; the 3rd and 4th grade in West Salem,Illinois;and the 1st and 2nd grade in Flat Rock,Illinois. Needless to say I met a great number of people and the moves actually provided me with a greater education than I might have gotten if I had stayed in one community. After Graduating from High School I went to Purdue University and was fortunate to be able to get an athletic scholarship as a Miler on the Track Team. After graduating from Purdue I became a Teacher(Science), Coach(Track and Field),and High School Administrator,(Athletic Director,Assistant Principal,Principal).
After 37 years I retired from the educational field. My wife of 51(8-17-09) years ,Ellen, and I now live with our youngest son, Army officer,Colonel Jim Enicks and his family,in Valrico,Florida. Ellen watches the Grandchildren while our Daughter-in-Law, Millie,teaches school.
In the year 2000, I thru-hiked the Appalachian Trail(photo Now)beginning on my birthday,Feb. 24 and finished 5 months later on July 24.

EnicksIV, is a retired Army Officer(LtCol)and lives in Tennessee. Our oldest Daughter, Beth, is a Nurse and lives in Maryland. Our youngest Daughter,Melissa,Nurse Practitioner, lives in Indiana.
During my 37 years in Education I taught school-in Linden,Indiana; Kendallville,In;Rome City,In;Aville,In;North Vermillion HS,Cayuga,In;Proviso West HS,Hillside,Ill;Clinton HS,Clinton,In;and finally at Shakamak High School where I served for 22 years.
Since I retired from Education I try to find other things to do so I have driven school busses in Indiana and in Kansas, driven a van for the NorthEastern Kansas Mental Health Association. I also worked at a Golf Course(Blue Water Bay(Niceville,Fl, and also at a Juvenile Detention Center in Tennessee.
It has been my good fortune to have been able to have good health and to be able to travel extensively(Europe-Near East-India), subsequently, I have met many wonderful people and I certainly look forward to hearing from all of you and wish to communicaate with any who so desire to do so.
From time to time I will attempt to update this Profile and add things that may be of interest. I will also attempt to change the photos for people that may be interested.
