Kathleen's Story

I was only going to join Classmates for a 3 month period, but couldn't resist the 1 year at a reduced price. so will try to catch up on what has been happening in my life. I met and married my husband Larry in 1970. We were blessed with 4 children, Tammy, Micheal, William and Ryan. Tammy is married and living in FL. She us a stay at home mom with one son Gregory, who keeps reminding me he will be 13 in Jan. Micheal is married and living in Santee. This is his second marriage. His first wife and my 4 grandchildren live in OK. He is a web developer and his wife is a Dr.of psychology. Micheal is a cancer survivor. William is married and living in Orange County. He is also a web developer and his wife is a GM at Borders Books. They have one son, Logan, who just turned 1. Our youngest son. Ryan was killed on May 13, 2005. Long story, no way to make it short, but I have lost all faith in our so called justice system. The person who killed our son was supposed to be sentenced to 17 years, it was plea bargined to 11 and the judge, in all his wisdom, or total lack of, sentenced him to 365 days with probation. He has violated his probation more times than I can count only to be told if he does it again, he will be sent to prison. Well, he did it again, this time with 18 violations. He was finally...Expand for more
sentenced on Dec. 9th,to 7 years in prison but as I said, I have lost all faith in the system. This has really taken a toll on my family, and Larry never fully recovered from Ryan's death. Larry worked at General Dynamics until it closed down. He went to school to be retrained, but retired due to health reasons.Larry had a heart attack after Ryan was killed and on top of COPD, never regained his health. As an update, Larry died December 24, 2008. Yes, on Christmas Eve. It was a massive heart attack and the COPD. We were home alone, and the paramedics are just 5 minutes from us, but he was dead before they got here. As for me, I worked for the Lakeside School District until the budget was cut and teacher's aides were no longer needed. I then worked at Sycuan Casino as a slot attendant, but had to quit to take care of Larry. Guess you could say we were both retired, or maybe just tired. Larry did leatherwork as a hobby. It kept him busy. I crochet just to save my sanity. I will try to post pictures at a later date. Hope to hear from more members of the class of '68. Especially looking for people from Holy Family School. I found our picture when we made our first communion. Wondering what ever happened to John D'Agostino and the rest. It was so good to hear from Betty Freeman.
