Ian's Story
Life
In a nut shell after I graduated I stopped swimming and decided to try to get serious about school. Well that worked out well and only lasted all of a year. I moved out to BC and worked in Fairmont Hot Springs after christmas of 1994. I was out there for 4 years and tried to figure out what to do with my life. Along the way out there, I took lots of industrial and wilderness first aid classes. I started working on the Fairmont Vol. fire dept. And worked with BC forest firefighting and doing first aid.
After deciding that the valley life was a little too slow for me I decided to move back to the Queen City in the fall of 1998 and took my EMT training. While at school for my EMT, I tried out for the Alberta Fire Training School in Vermillion Alta. I was accepted and started in march of 1999. Finishing fire college around christmas of that year, I started looking for jobs. Would ...Expand for more
you know it the first place to offer me a jobs was down the road in the big city of Moose Jaw. I started there feb. 2000. I was planning to only be here a couple of years and then move on to a bigger city. But four and half years later I am still here and loving life.
The last couple of years have been really good to me. Along with being a firefighter, I did some part time work with the ambulance and got to use my EMT training. And would you know it I met a girl there. Her name is Kirsten and we are getting married in June of 2005. We have been together a couple of years now. We have a house and the token dog. He is a golden retriever named Cooper.
Moose Jaw was the last place I ever thought that I would end up after growing up in Regina, but it has turned out to be the best choice I ever made. I found a great girl, own my own house and I am a firefighter.
Life is good!
