Ian's Story
I live in Middlebury, CT with my wife Karen. My oldest daughter Alison lives in Wolcott CT with her husband Paul and daughter Emily. My daughter Chrissy lives in Franklin, MA with her husband Scott and their four children, Charlotte, Thomas, Natalie and Paige. Karen recently ran a 3:54 marathon in Lowell, MA, qualifying for the Boston Marathon in 2014.
I am President of The Schegg Group, LLC, an HR consulting firm focusing on career transition, recruiting and executive coaching. I was CEO of Australian Skandia, Ltd., in Sydney, Australia. Prior to that I was Senior Vice President at American Skandia, Inc.. And before that, Part Owner and Vice President of Synergy Plus Software, Inc., a software development company. and then moved to the Boston area to establish the US headquaters for Sun Life.
My work building high-performance organizations is featured in three management books: Market Ownership, The Art & Science of Becoming #1, by William A. Sherden, Fun Works, Creating Places Where People Love to Work, by Leslie Yerkes, and Lead like an Entrepreneur, by Dr. Neal Thornberry. Babson College developed a business case based on my work, for its MBA and executive development programs.
I got my MBA at Babson College, Wellesley, MA and my BS in Accounting from Concordia University, Montreal. I am qualified in MBTI (Myers Briggs Type Indicator) and certified to teach The Organization Workshop, developed by Barry Oshry, Power and Systems, Inc.
My hobbies are gardening (not vegetables), photography, reading and music.
