Marilyn's Story

It's hard to summarize almost 50 years in a few paragraphs, but here goes! I currently live in Sebastopol and have been retired from teaching since 2010. I was an early childhood special education teacher for 36 years, teaching in San Diego, Sacramento, Los Angeles and Marin County. I have been married for 41 years to a wonderful man named John who I met while teaching and living in San Diego in the '70s. We have one daughter, Renee, who is married with children. After graduating from high school and college, I lived in several places. Teaching took me to San Diego and Sacramento and marriage to a musician took me to London and LA. In 1981, we settled in Sonoma County for good. I loved traveling and living about, but I missed home, my family and friends. Music is still a big part of our lives. n music, and I sing with an Italian chorus called "The Coro Allegro". Over the years I have been involved in Peace & Justice issues, volunteer work with the elderly and poor, and as a lector at Resurrection Catholic Church. I am very fortunate to still be close friends with several of my elementary, junior high, and high school friends, and I love running into and hearing from others. Now that I am retired, I have the joy of doing childcare for my granddaughters and the family's dog during the week. When not babysitting, I love to garden, read, take pictures, walk, do crossword puzzles, cook, play bocce, and visit and party with friends. I love animals to a fault. We have a rescue cockatiel and are the caretakers of 8 feral kitties who we dote upon and spoil. If anyone would like to write to me, I would love to hear from you.

So here's McCovey Cove back in the days. Spent a wonderful afternoon at Hyde Pier and the Maritime Museum.
Despite the rain, they came! We handed out about 800 pieces of candy, popcorn balls and even raided Liliana, Emilia and Calvin's trick-or-treat bags, and we still ran out by 8:15! Another "Happy Halloween" on Florence Ave
