Ilene's Story
Realizing that I hadn’t updated for over seven years, I thought I would do so now. Dave and I have been married for more than 53 years now - I met him at UCLA. We lived in Los Angeles for a few years and then moved to Mill Valley in the Bay Area, where our Daughter Mia and Son Matt were born. We desired to be in a more rural area at the same time Dave wanted to teach at a junior college. In 1978 he was hired at the College of the Redwoods and we moved to Fortuna over Labor Day weekend! This has been our home for 42 years now.

left home when it was time for college. Mia and her family live in Monkton, Maryland. Matt and his family live in Chicago. We do travel to see them a few times a year and they usually come home each Summer. With Covid, those travels slowed down. I have been retired from teaching primary grades at our local elementary school and Dave is retired from community college education. We love our 7 acres of beautiful, serene land and we keep ourselves busy with a variety of hobbies. I teach for Master Food Preservers and volunteer with the Humboldt County Botanical Garden. How did we get to be 76 years old?
