Update: One year later, it's now August '08. My husband, Dave, retired from his 30 year teaching career in May, and we are free to play and travel! We took a cruise in June to Alaska to celebrate his retirement and our 40th anniversary. And, of course we snorkeled there! Our granddaughter is now 1 1/2 and the cutest thing ever. Our son, Matt and his wife have been living in Boston for the past three years and are now moving to Chicago (Julie is an anthropology professor and she just accepted an appointment at the University there). Our daughter Mia and her family live in Champaign, Illinois - just a little over two hours from where Matt and Julie will be. As far as where Dave and I go - we are NOT moving to the MIDWEST! For the past 30 years, my family and I have lived in the small town of Fortuna, California on eight acres of redwoods, pines, and pastures. I retired 1 1/2 years ago after a long teaching career. My husband is a computer science professor at the College of the Redwoods. We have two children who are grown and married and live in the midwest and on the east coast. Three months ago, we became grandparents for the first time when our granddaughter Lindsay was born. Now that I'm retired I'm free to travel, something I love to do. Until my husband retires one year from now, I've been traveling by myself and also with friends. I enjoy spending time outdoors in our beautiful Humboldt County. I also love crafting of all kinds, gardening, cooking and reading. Life is good!
