Ilien's Story
Shortly after graduation I went to work for Selective Service (draft board). I met my husband in 1969 and we got married a year later and I moved to the suburbs. I stopped working and stayed home for 16 years raising our 2 wonderful daughters. Our oldest daughter is married and we have 2 handsome little grandsons now. Our younger daughter is divorced and living a new life in Alaska.
I went back to work for an insurance agent after both girls were in high school and 7 years later went to school and became an EMT/Paramedic for several years. I then changed careers but stayed in the medical field as ...Expand for more
a dialysis technician. Six years later I left due to medical reasons and have been a homemaker since then.
About 12 years ago we left the burbs and built a home out in the country in LaSalle County. We live about 30 minutes from Starved Rock and really enjoy the peace and quiet of country living.
My husband and I enjoy spending as much time with our grandsons as we can. We frequently have them over for weekend visits and have fun playing games with them on Wii and they have an acre of land to play on.
Life has been great and looking forward to my husband retiring so we have lots more time together.
