The problem is that liberalism sounds like the charitable way, sounds halachic, to take care of those who can't care for themselves. The trouble is there is such a difference between gov't and law vs charity and caring. Besides if they looked further they would learn that the more blessed are those who do the right thing not because they "feel" like it but because they "know" it's right.
