Irene's Story
After graduating Valley Stream Central High School in 1955, I attended Hofstra College (now a University) and graduated with a BS in Elementary Education. I taught Kdg - 2nd grade until I stayed home to raise my four children. I returned for my MS in Special Education in 1980 and spent 20 years teaching Social Studies courses at Smithtown High School until I retired. I retired to...Expand for more
the West Coast of Florida and love every minute of the lifestyle here. I have been a volunteer for over 60 years and am very busy giving back to the community. There is even an active group of Central HS alumni in Southern Florida that holds an annual luncheon for all alumni. Hofstra's alumni get together once a year at the Yankee's Spring training stadium in Tampa. Life is good.
