Irma's Story

Life I loved Drama class when I was at Keppel. Should have known that I'd have alot of it in my future!! I loved Mr. McCabe's class and I made alot of friends. Most I have haven't kept up with, but those that I still talk to have been there through thick and thin. I have recently become, unfortunatly, a widow. It sucks. I was married to Al for 16 years but felt as if I'd known him all of my life. He was awsome. September 2nd will mark one year since his passing. I feel as if he just died yesterday. I try to keep busy with my grandchildren, all 12 of them!! 6 biological and 6 who are from Al's sons. I love them all. Some I don't see as often as I'd like to. I have two children, Daniel who just turned 33 and Melina who is 27. Two sons from Al's prior marriage, Brian, and Damian. Whom I love as my own. I live in Indio Ca, just east of Palm Springs. I moved to the desert in 1999. I left Monterey Park back in 1976 when I married my first husband, and settled in Culver City. It averages about 115 degrees in the summer out here. The "Winters" however are the most beautiful I've ever seen. All the "Snow Birds" end up here in Indio. My hobbie right now is making hand made greeting cards, for any occassion and hope to market those here in the desert. I am retired from the DMV, but with the cards that fate has dealt to me, I will be looking for a job again soon. Wish me luck. Have a blessed life everyone. Hope to reconnect with some of you sometime soon. God Bless.......Irma Giammichele Workplace My first job after graduation was at a recording studio in Santa Monica. I met alot of very interesting people. I should have persude my ambition to become a professional photographer, but...life got in the way!! Retired from DMV Dec. 2006. Started in 1986 in the Culver City office and transfered to Pomona after I remarried in 1992. We moved to Indio in 1999 and I retired here from the Indio office. 20 plus years of service to the State of California is plenty enough. Enjoying time with my grandkids. Story Wizard: I hope friends remember me as being funny, loyal, trustworthy and kind. I blow off steam by "yelling" which doesn't help the situation. I'm working on it. I relax by making cards or watching TV. My hero was and sill is, my late husband, Al. He "saved" me. We'll just leave it at that. The one person from my past I'd most like to see again is my fellow thespians, because we have so many funny stories to share. Sorry......I'm ho...Expand for more
oked on reality TV. Not all, just a few. My biggest surprise is that I never thought I'd be "widowed" at my age. If I could improve my home, I'd remodel my kitchen and add on a new counter top and cabinets. My dream home would be wherever I'm happiest. What have I learned from my kids?..... MY PARENTS WERE RIGHT!!!!!!!! I would love to see Mr Munson again. Don't know if he's still with us or not. He was so down to earth and connected with us. If I won $100 million, I'd give some of it to my family and the less fortunate, then spend the rest on traveling, lypo suction and hostess snowballs!!!!!. Not necessarily in that order! To be truly happy I would be just about anywhere doing whatever makes all of my children and grandchildren happy and healthy. My current age is "young at heart". When I was 12, I thought that people my age now would be bored with life. I was so completely misinformed. My first "crush", a fellow classmate from elementary school, is married to a fellow classmate!!! From elementary school. Ha ha! My best friend would tell you I'm feeling sad, but people who don't know me very well would probably describe me as happy go lucky. I dress in whatever makes me comfortable. I don't follow fashion trends but I still dress nicely. The weirdest job I ever had was also my first job out of high school. Feeding tape into those tiny yet ever so "in" 8 track tapes back in the "70's!!!! Can anyone say "Groovy"? I share my home with my daughter and grandchildren, which I find comforting. For now. What would be my make over? I would have had more self-confidence. In 10 years, I hope to be living in another city. I'm going to get there by hell or high water!!!!!. Talk about my oldest friend and where we met?......... I'm taking this one "literally". My "oldest" friend is my mother. I met her in a hospital many, many years ago. What would surprise everyone at my high school reunion is that my personality hasn't changed and I still have bangs!!!! My first job was at Virco Recording Studios in Monterey Park, where I got paid about 1.25 per hr. to feed tape into 8 tracks. What I remember most about it is that the building was underground with no windows and alot of white bricks. We called it "Stalag 13." I left them to work for their rival!!!!!. The childhood memory that I never have forgotten: Falling out of a moving car at about age 5. Rolling under the car and having it stop just inches from my head. My dad was driving!
