Irma's Story
We have been in Houston since 1973 where I received my degree in 1976 from the University of Houston, a BBA in Accounting. I have worked as an accountant, auditor, a full time mom, a volunteer, and a college counselor, recruiter, and advisor. We have lived in two wonderful neighborhoods where we met some wonderful people and have established strong friendships. We are also active in our community & our church. I am a member of the International Chamber of Commerce and the Houston Hispanic Chamber of Commerce. I am a volunteer for the Make A Wish Foundation making dreams come true for children with cancer. We also serve as Co-Chairs of the Leadership Commissions at our church, St. Ignatius Loyola in Spring, Texas. I have Co-chaired two Galas, one for the Archbishop Fulton J. Sheen Foundation and the other for the Carmelite Sisters of St. Theresa. I am presently working on our next Gala for the Carmelite Sister for October 24, 2015. This Gala is attended by many bishops from our Diocese and also by His Eminence, Daniel Cardinal DiNardo. It has been very fulfilling working on these Galas and have met some very prominent and down to earth people from Houston and other countries.

granddaughter, Alexandra Rene (Lexie). Playing and spending time with Lexie, brings me great joy. I am still married to my husband, Carlos L. Garcia, CPA from Brownsville of 43 yrs. and works for Baker Hughes. Gabe graduated from Texas Tech Univ. and works for Fiesta Food Stores as store manager. Rene received his Bachelors from the University of North Texas and his Masters from Our Lady of the Lake University in Psychology. He presently works as a Psychotherapist for Memorial Herman Hospital in Dallas. I love my family!
I love sports. I enjoy watching football, baseball, basketball, soccer, tennis, swimming, & most of all the Olympics. I love to play tennis, swim, and my passion is music & dancing, especially to Latin music, salsa, merengue, bachata, tejano, and everything else! LOL!!!! I am blessed to have a great dancing partner who shares my passion.
My second passion is traveling. I just took a trip to Greece, Turkey, and Italy. I have also been to Portugal, Spain, and France, and Argentina. I have traveled all over Mexico, too. I am trying to plan my next trip!
Send me an email and let me know how you are doing or when ever you are in Houston.
Praise God and blessings to all of you!
