J.'s Story

Life Well lets see...I've been married for close to 18 years now, met her flying a kite of all things and we have 4 wonderful kids with the oldest just now going into high school. We live on some acreage out in Littlerock and keep ourselves busy with baseball, boyscouts, and girlscouts, as well as being coordinators for the NACEL foreign exhange student program where we find caring families for foreign exhange students while they are here while I instruct them in an ESL program to better their English as well. School Ya know, while in school I always took pride in having a few, select good friends that hve remained friends for what...over 25 years nows, while at the same time, being able to relate and hang with every click there was in school. The strange thing is that throughout the years, it seems more people knew me than I knew them, or would allow myself to. I guess to those people who I have met throughout the years, I offer my appologies to you for not knowing you as well as I should. College Ya know, there was no way I could have survived college right after high school. Instead, it took me a dozen years to figure out that the academic world was mine and I started back up school. al Studies so that I could get into the teaching program out here. I am now going back to school to earn my masters in education as well as a degree in mathematics of all things. Workplace After spending a hitch in the military, then as a store manager, then as a salesman, I fnially found the career meant for me as a teacher. I work out at Gibson K - 8 in Littlerock, CA. teaching as 7th grade lead and love every moment of it. I wear many hats out there including the atheletic's director, RTI/SST, core curriculum, and Gate coordinator. Military What can I say, the choice was college as everybody expected, or the military what everyone didn't expect. I chose the military. Once in (Navy) I spent near seven years working in spec ops and volunteering for every mission they had. Had a great time, built a bit of confidence that I needed, and learned a thing or three about people and culture from a bullseye perspective. In the military I visited nearly 50 countries, many no longer having the same names as they did when I visited them, and some changing their name due to the actions of me and my team. I am very proud to have served my country and would do it again in a heartbeat, despite some of the tragedies I have had to bear witness too and cause.
