J.D.'s Story

Life After graduation I joined the Army and was sent to Ft. Chaffee for basic. Tommy Cash was there, too. I was assigned to Baumholder, Germany all of 1959-1960 as acquisition radar operator at a Hercules missile site. Planes were on my radar that were flying in east Germany. I got to come home in April 1961. I listened to Tommy Cash do the Hillbilly Reveille program on Armed Forces Network, while I was there. It was a music bright spot for us. I don't like leaving Memphis anymore. I started working at Velsicol Chemical plant August 1961 until I retired in 2003. I have been married to Joy Cooper (Martha Joy Styers) since October 24,1974. I was on volunteer radio from June 1986 until July 1999. I have alway...Expand for more
s been a fan of the traditional music styles. Not much after the early sixties. Now I have posted daily music messages on the music group, RaB-HoF, for over 2 years. It was started by the Rockabilly Hall of Fame in Burns, Tn. It is fun and I have added youtube videos links along with a lot of other links. I use wikipedia a lot. I had Guillian-Barre Syndrome and was paralyzed in June and July of 2006. I started my daily music posts again September 1. I like to go to some of the music shows. Most of the shows with high ticket prices are performers I wouldn't want to see free. I like to go to Sun Studio some. I like to go to Bosco's Squared on Madison. I also go to Memphis Redbirds games, mostly on weekdays.
