Jack's Story
Right after school I joined the Marine Corps as so many others did back then. After 2 years I was about to deploy to Vietnam when an injury I had suffered early in my career forced me out of the Corps because of a seizure disorder.
So I followed a girl to Tennessee Tech University but blew that opportunity. Came home and started work at Stationer's Supply in early 1968. Raised a little cain for awhile and then finally met my wife. We were married in December of 1969 and are together still.
Thanks to my wife I went back to school and got my Chemistry degree from Purdue in 1973 just a few years after my peers. My very first job was as a chemist for the Indiana DOT. From there I moved to the Indiana Board of Health as a radiation chemist in 1978. This was just before the Three Mile Island accident so I was very busy in those days. When they abandon the Marble Hill Nuclear Power Plant I decided another career move was needed so in 1985 I transferred to the Department of Environmental Manag...Expand for more
ement and was there until 1989 when they asked me to come back to the Board of Health and head up the Division I had worked in. A very short time later I was offered a consultant position with an environmental firm and left state employment for Heritage Environmental. I worked there from 1990 until I retired in 2003.
Today I volunteer a lot of my time to various conservation and environmental organizations. Primarily I represent Pheasants Forever as an unpaid lobbyist and the Indiana Conservation Alliance as a member of their board. Most days I am fishing, hunting or gambling. I spend way too much time on the computer but enjoy hearing from old friends from school, the military or work.
My goal is to win the PowerBall and move to Las Vegas where we vacation a couple of times every year. Until then I am still in Indianapolis just hanging out.
