John's Story
Life
I was born in Toronto Ontario and then somehow, got to Saskatchewan where I was adopted into the Hunt Family...all of you will know me as Jack. Jack is actually short for John, my Christian name. I used my Christian name in my mid twenties when I got into the Broadcasting business. Since then it has kind of stuck, although my old friends and family still call me Jack.
Since high school, I have done a million things, primarily in the province of British Columbia and in the cities of Kitimat, Prince George and Vancouver.
After 3 years at the U. of S. ( and about a million games of bridge) I headed to Kitimat where I worked for a year in a pulp & paper mill called Eurocan.
Then I moved to Vancouver to work in the car rental business before entering BCIT in the Broadcast Journalism program. From there I graduated and went to Prince George where ...Expand for more
I became the Sports director for CKPG radio and TV. Lots of fun, no money, so I moved on to become the Regional Co-ordinator for the Canadian Red Cross Society in Northern BC and the Yukon.
Vancouver was still my ultimate goal, so I eventually ended up as an admissions advisor back at BCIT.
I got my real estate license and for 25 years worked in the real estate field in various capacities and then running my own consulting company.
Just a short 5 years ago I gave up that career and I am now in the Wine business, managing a store in Vancouver called Firefly Fine Wines and Ales, while training to become a sommelier.
I live in Kitsilano, married, two cats, no kids and wouldn't live anywhere else despite all the travelling around the world especially to wine regions.
Call or email me anytime...I would love to hear from old school mates and friends.
