I was in the class of '64. My memory of those high school years is spotty. I was not a club member, not in the band, and not a sports' team member. The only name I can remember is a friend Oliver O'Bryan. During my senior year, a small group of friends & I did a lot of things together. For example, there were several of us in one car, and we drove to Houston to go ice skating. I was not a fan of pep rallies, and at the time I called myself an Atheist. I lived with my mom, who was a carhop. After high school I worked for a year at Texas Bus Lines, and then I joined the Army in 1965. I spent some time stationed in San Antonio, until I volunteered for service in Germany. I met and married a German girl. My time with the Army was even extended for 3 months, so that the Army could pay for the birth of my son in Heidelberg, Germany. After the Army, I used the GI Bill to attend college at Southwest Texas State University(renamed to Texas State University).
