Jack's Story

After I graduated, I left home on June 25th, 1974 and went to Albany, California near Oakland and lived in a dorm at OCB (Orientation Center for the Blind) for about nine months. Then, after attending the College of Alameda for a quarter, I moved to Glen Ellen, California and trained to become a licensed psych. tech. at Sonoma State Hospital. I worked as a psych. tech. at Napa State Hospital for about 2 and a half years during with time I married my lovely wife, Laurie, and we had our son, Michael, in July of 1979. We moved back to Glen Ellen, and I worked at Sonoma State Hospital for another two and a half years, during which time our daughter Jessica was born, in January of 1981. Then in 1982 we moved to Garland, Texas and lived there for about three years while I studied computer programming at Richland College until December of 1984. Then we moved back to California and lived in Chico for a few months before I went back to work at Napa State Hospital in July of 1985. Then in 1986 we moved to Dunlap, Tennessee (near Chattanooga) to work at a church affiliated, but self-supporting boarding academy. We worked and lived there about a year and then bought a piece of land near Cl...Expand for more
ifton, Tennessee where we built our own house on seven and a half acres. Then in 1994 we moved to Tracy City, Tennessee so I could work at a newly built radio station, which at the time, was the only radio station in Grundy County. It may still be the only radio station in Grundy County, but I'm not sure about that! Then in 1997 we moved to Collegedale, Tennessee where we thought Michael would attend Southern Adventist University. Things didn't work out that way, but we ended up pretty much staying in the same area, though I did go to work as a dorm counselor at Advent Home, a boarding school for boys with ADHD for almost a year in Calhoun, Tennessee during most 1999. I have been working in Assisted living, personal home care, and presently in housekeeping at a local nursing home since then. For most of the time since 1987 we have also been carrying on a music ministry where we sing mostly scripture songs that I have either composed music for myself or have collected over the years and have distributed recordings of these songs all over the world. I also have a You Tube music ministry that I've been making videos for since August of 2006. That pretty much brings you up to speed!
