Jack's Story
Life
My hometown was Edmond, Oklahoma. In high school I played football, wrestled, and ran in track. Best friends in high school were Dale Owen and Mickey Joyce. Most memorable event in high school was the building of a log cabin near what is now Edmond Memorial High School.
In college (Central State), I played football and threw the discus in track. My senior year our team won the NAIA National Championship. I was named to the AP All Oklahoma Football Team.
I taught and coached at Hobart and Guthrie high schools before moving to Garden City, Kansas to coach at Garden City Junior College. I left GC for Greeley, Colorado, University of Northern Colorado, accept...Expand for more
ing a Graduate Assistantship, coaching football and wrestling.
Eventually, I moved to Pueblo (1970), teaching and coaching at Pueblo East High for two years. I later transfered to Central High where I stayed until I left for Peru State College in Nebraska. I ended up going to University of Nebraska where I received my Ph.D. From there I taught at KSU. I ended up becoming an administrator (high school principal and superintendent) and did that until I retired in 2003.
I am married and I have 3 daughters, 5 grandsons and 1 very spoiled grandaughter.
We have a lake home on Grandlake (Grove, OK) and spend a lot of our summers there skiing and enjoying the water.
