Jack's Story

Workplace I sold my business in September of 2006 and moved to Eastern Washington. Live 12 miles south of Lind, Wa. We are 70 miles east of vantage on highway 26, the highway to Pullman. Our driveway is on the left. We are out in the middle of about 10,000 acres of Wheat fields. Wonderful place to be at this time in life. Peacful, no close neighbors, 1/1/2 miles from them and they are great people. Love the weather, so much nicer and more sunny than Seattle. Wonderful place to be with a wonderful partner, been together for 21 years. . We both were into Stock car racing, she was in the process of being divorced when we met. After she was divorced her kids and my kids thought we should be together, and set us up. We have been together ever since. Guess they thought then they wouldn't have to take care of us when we got Old. I wanted to be involved in the community, I stuck my hand up to be on the Adams Conservation Board in late 2008. At the end of April 2009, I was hired by the Adams Conservation District to work for them part time. I did that for about 10 months. They had some Fedral Grants not come in so I had to leave the district office. It was a wonderful exprience for a city kid. I learned so much. I learned what it takes to get fields ready so they can plant, what it takes for harvest, and how to get it to market. These ranchers and farmers really love what they do and the life that they have. bles everyday with what he does. I learned about one of the families, which their are 6 brothers and sisters. The family has been here since 1842. They work ground along the Snake River for 38 miles on both sides. If you have ever traveled to Spokane and you get to Long Lake by Sprague, look out the window on the Right. Everything you see on the back side of the lake belongs to them. And everything you can't see behind that is their's also. Two of the brothers own and work 90,000 acres. It is just amaizing how big some of these place are. While I was at the district I was able to go to places that not many people get to see. We did some fenching for one rancher that had property at Lion's Ferry. We got to walk on land that no man had walked on in at least 100 years. I got to walk on a old wagon trail that was the main north south route to Canada for the Settlers that came to the area. It was a real moving experience, know ing this.I really felt fortunate to have been able to have seen this part of history. When I left the district I had to do something so a fellow that I knew needed help distributing detail supplies to car dealers. His driver quit and needed help. So I did that for about 8 months (longer than I wanted). I got a call from a regional manager for SnapOn Equipment to work a territory in Centeral Washington. We talked and made me an offer I culd not refuse. So I am now doing that. It gets me out of the house and able to meet people. Besides that Joanine likes her space.
